Hocus Pocus Keep Them Focused! (Giveaway)

We all know that teachers have magic powers.  From eyes in the back of our heads to super-sonic hearing, we are a talented bunch, I tell you!  But this time of year, spring fever has hit and with the end of the year in sight, and we all need a little extra magic to keep us going!  So, in the next few weeks, I’m joining with my favorite intermediate teachers to put a little extra magic in our lessons and keep students engaged.

We will be swapping resources that will be just what we need to keep our students engaged during the final weeks of school.  We want to share our finds with you in a fun way – a 2-part blog hop giveaway!

Today, we present Part 1, with each blogger introducing the resource they selected to keep their friends engaged and learning in our final weeks together.  Then, over the course of the next three weeks, we will be using these resources in our classrooms.  On Sunday, May 11, we’ll be back to report on how well these resources kept our students engaged!

I'm so excited to be swapping something from one of my FAVORITE upper-elementary teacher/blogger/TpT friends!!  She was actually one of my very first friends when I joined TpT last January!  Time really does fly!

So what product did I decide to "snag" from Ms. Findley?  Hmmm..that was a hard choice!  I already have a ton of her products and use them often, so I asked her..."Do you have any new products that you are super proud of in your shop?"  Well, wouldn't you know it?  She did!! (Of course, hehe!)  So, this week, I will be working on Jennifer's "Math Choice Boards."

She has a really nice variety of content and if Math isn't your thing...she's got "Reading Choice Boards," too!  This is why we love her, right?  She is a hard worker and thinks of everything!  So basically, I'll be using these with my students this week and documenting that process.  I will be posting about my students'  interactions with them on Sunday, May 11th to let you know how it went! (Lots of pictures included!!) So will you join me on my journey with Jen this week?  Let's keep those kiddos engaged and learning! After all, school's not over yet!

Now to the giveaway!  Here’s what you need to do:

Okay, I'm wiping the dust off of my blog again...and smiling the entire time!  Why??!  Well, folks, our state exams are OVER!!  Woo hoo!!  Now, let's cross our fingers (and our toes) in hopes that our results will be just as exciting.  What a crazy time in a teacher and student's life.  No matter how much you prepare your kids throughout the school year, there really does seem to be an inevitable CrUnCh time!  I am so proud of my students. I have a truly wonderful, sweet group of kids this year.  I promised each of them that there would be more time for projects after our exams, so I am living up to that promise with a few FUN and creative activities that you'll be seeing over the next week. :)  So here's a look at our first one.

This is a project that I do every year, but each year I change the theme.  One year we made butterflies, another was an intricate geometric shape, etc.  This year, we made robots!  Check them out. :)

Here is how they looked in the hallway. :)

I'm always excited to see what my students' creativity makes!  I think they did a great job!  Even better, they enjoyed this project SO much that they created a couple more, just because they wanted to!

Stay tuned for a mitosis project and freebie to go with it, as well as something that I have named "Constellation Math!"  You won't want to miss them!

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful Friday tomorrow!
